WHAT'S IN YOUR TRUCK TUESDAY: PAM OWENS

One of our favorite fun reads is Relish Austin's "What's In Your Fridge Friday." We learn a bit about local notables, their refrigerator contents, and get a glimpse inside. While the city creep is headed Dripping way, many of us would like to fend it off as long as possible. So, in the interest of keeping it a bit more country, we present “What’s In Your Truck Tuesday.” We’ll meet Dripping locals and learn more about what’s in their truck or SUV. So far, we've peered inside (and outside) the respective trucks of Babble regular contributor Melanie Cambron, birding superstar Howard Williams, John McIntosh, brewer and owner of Dripping Springs' only bar, Marianne Simmons, groundbreaking organic farmer, Sibby Barrett, owner and food visionary behind Onion Creek Kitchens at Juniper Hills Farm, Ben Guyton, goat cheese kingpin, Kristi Greene, prepared property manager/plum jelly queen, Tom McCormick of red truck fame, and Gary Kelleher, Dripping Springs Texas Vodka's Master Distiller, plus we've had a special Who's In Your Fire Truck Tuesday.

This week, we admire the truck, and precious passenger, of one of our favorite Dripping folk. Pam Owens and her Print Plus are the hub of the community (and her little rescue dog Kimi, who greets you at the door, is the warm, fuzzy center). Pam is a tireless volunteer for local charities and the source of our most treasured and inspiring quote: put on your lipstick and smile. As many of you know, Pam's son Jonathan served as a medic in Afghanistan where his photo was taken before he came home — one of the best photos we've ever posted. Pam has also thrown down with a Leander man who claimed to have the tallest agave — oh, really? In short, we're Pam fans and she drives a truck!

What is your job/profession?
Owner of Print Plus

What is in your truck today?
My 2 water jugs to refill at The Water Stop, a bale of hay and a bag of sweet feed for my new miniature donkey Pierre.

Other than proof of insurance, what three things are always in your truck?
On my visor is a bracelet my grandson made and an emblem my son wore while he was a medic in the Army Reserve. Of course my dog Kimi is usually in there with me too!

What’s the most unusual thing you’ve ever transported in or behind your truck?
A young llama to a Halloween party. He stood in the back floorboard and looked out the window.  Now that was a fun evening!

Where’s the farthest place you’ve ever driven your truck?
Big Bend National Park. My family has spent 2 wonderful Thanksgiving holidays there.

What do you listen to in your truck?
Lots of C&W dance music on my ipod, KUT, KLBJ and KVET

Any Dripping-related trivia about yourself?
I moved to DS 28 years ago when there was just 1 blinking light at 290 and 12 and the only place to get any groceries was where the DS Grocery is now on 290. I've seen a  lot of changes. Print Plus is my second business. I started Your Growing Child in 1986.

If you could drive any vehicle other than your truck, what would it be?

A 2011 Chevy Camaro 1SS.
