DRIPPING MONDAY: THE WEEK AHEAD (AND BEYOND)

Before we kick off a rundown of this week's events (and a few beyond) we send out a big thank you to our amazing local firefighters. Your extraordinary efforts and dedication continue to save the day!

On Thursday, August 18, at 7pm, it's Thirsty Thursday at New Life Lutheran Church, 120 Frog Pond Lane off Highway 290. Thirsty Thursday is a monthly gathering of poets, musicians, songwriters and storytellers hosted by local resident Nancy Fierstien, whose birthday happens to be this Thursday. Nancy wishes for the gift of your words and donations to the Grace Food Pantry. The evening's poetic theme is "Odes."
 
On Saturday, August 20, it's the Boot Scoot Ball at the Salt Lick Pavilion from 6pm - 10pm. All you can eat BBQ, cash bar, dancing, dance lessons, and Billy Garza and 40 Guns dance band. Proceeds benefit Harrison Ranch Park. Buy your tickets in advance for $30 or $35 at the door. On Sunday, August 21, it's the "Last Chance to Dance" before school starts. This benefit for Torri Fain, who was injured in a go-cart accident last May, is from 5pm - 10pm at  Nutty Brown Cafe. Dancing music by Michael Myers, Jon Wolfe, Jerry Martin Band and Andres Garrett. Live and silent auction includes Willie Nelson autographed guitar and 8 tickets to his next Back Yard event, George Strait memorabilia, VIP table to Josh Abbott Festival at Nutty Brown, Kevin Fowler guitar, Wild Game Hunt and much more. Tickets are $10 at the gate. All proceeds from event will go to Torri Fain medical expenses.

Next month, on Saturday, September 10, from 3pm - 6pm, the Dripping Springs Cook-Off Club hosts a New Members party at The Barber Shop on Mercer Street. The event is family friendly and will include a fish fry with the fixings, sodas, tea, and water. Other beverages are available for purchase at The Barber Shop. The DS Cook-Off Club is looking for new active members. They meet once a month to plan for events and to socialize. Come to the New Members party and find out what they are all about. 

The next Drippin' Dancin' will be Sunday, September 11, from 6pm - 9pm at The Goodnight Diner on Mercer. Save the date for some great hometown food, music and dancing. 

Wesley Gallery hosts the Texas Gourd Artists’ Show and Sale, September 16-18

The Dripping Springs Drumline and Dripping Springs High School Bands are proud to host the 3rd Annual Dripping Springs Drumline Contest, scheduled for Saturday, September 17. The competition will be held in the Dripping Springs Tiger Stadium located at 111 Tiger Lane. The contest begins at 11am and will feature a talented array of Texas high school drumlines from the Central Texas area and across the state.  

On October 23 from 3pm - 6pm, the Heritage Circle of Dripping Springs hosts "If Gravestones Could Talk -  A Narrated Walking Tour of Wallace Mountain Cemetary."  For more information, contact heritagecircle@verizon.net.
