WHAT'S IN YOUR TRUCK TUESDAY: MELANIE CAMBRON
One of our favorite fun reads is Relish Austin's “What's In Your Fridge Friday” on Austin360.com. We learn a bit about local notables, their refrigerator contents, and get a glimpse inside. While the city creep is headed Dripping way, many of us would like to fend it off as long as possible. So, in the interest of keeping it a bit more country, the Babble will be doing “What’s In Your Truck Tuesday.” We’ll meet Dripping locals and learn more about what’s in their truck or SUV. To kick off our new series, we check out what’s in the SUV of Babble regular contributor Melanie Cambron.
What is in your truck today?
2 bales of hay I just picked up from Rippy's to hold our longhorns over until the round bale delivery tomorrow.
Other than proof of insurance, what three things are always in your truck?
Knife, dog leash, and lip gloss.
What’s the most unusual thing you’ve ever transported in or behind your truck?
In - 2 shopping carts plus an antique screenless screen door. Also 400 pounds of molasses (but not at the same time as the shopping carts and screenless screen door run).
Behind - 15 dead washing machines.
Where’s the farthest place you’ve ever driven your truck?
Dallas (still in Texas, but a world away from Dripping Springs).
What do you listen to in your truck?
KUT or KGSR.
Any Dripping-related trivia about yourself?
My grandfather took over the Driftwood General Store in 1973 so he wouldn't have to drive to "Dripping Springs for two tomatoes and a head of lettuce" as described in the San Marcos Record article now hanging on my living room wall. I spent many childhood days rifling through the wood and beveled glass candy case in that store.
If you could drive any vehicle other than your truck, what would it be?
The old army Jeep my grandfather let us drive as kids.

Like having a bag of potato chips in your grocery bag. Can't even make it out of the truck before digging in. Photo by Melanie Cambron.
