The Dripping Springs Community Library whisks you away to Ancient Egypt on Thursday from 3pm - 4pm for their Walk Like a Librarian event. Individuals or teams of family or friends, ages 9 to adult, are invited to be part of the exploration. Bring your sense of adventure and inquiring mind to explore and decode messages, find out how old is ancient, and discover treasures along with "artifacts" from this ancient culture and the modern library world. Treasures are waiting to be discovered. Register online at www.DSCL.org to save your spot today. The library is located at 501 Sportsplex Drive near Dripping Springs High School.
Dr. Ronald Jorgenson, whose poetry is published under the pen name of Dr. Charles A. Stone, will be the featured reader for “Thirsty Thursday” at New Life Lutheran Church. Doors open at 7pm at 120 Frog Pond Lane off Highway 290, and admission is free for all ages. Jorgenson was named the 2010 Senior Poet Laureate of Texas and the 2011 Native American Poet Laureate. He is currently on the Board of The Austin International Poetry Festival. This month's theme for the open mike segment of the program is “Levitating.” Aspiring poets, songwriters, musicians and storytellers are welcome to sign up. While admission is free, donations to the Grace Food Pantry are strongly encouraged. Call (512) 858-2024 for more details.
On Sunday at The Barn on Bell Springs (4000 Bell Springs Rd), Texas Music Legends presents Red White & Blues, Ponty Bone & The Squeezetones, Texas Wranglers, and Larry Lange & His Lonely Knights for a musical benefit for the Julie Ann Gonzales Fund.
