Babble reader Kathy Milford captured this shot of turkeys. There were 7 of them in her backyard. Did you know that by the late 19th street hunters had almost exterminated turkeys in Texas? But in 1897 the first step was taken to try to protect these birds and with gradual tighter restrictions, and protection by conservation-minded landowners, they staged a dramatic comeback.
