DRIPPING MONDAY: THE WEEK AHEAD

It’s Hats and Tea for "American Girls" on Thursday from 6-7pm at the Dripping Springs Community Library. Mrs. Margaret Huber, "The Hat Lady" of Dripping Springs, will present a century of beautiful hats, followed by a light tea. This evening is an opportunity learn about life way back when ''everyone wore a hat,'' with the characters from the American Girl book series providing the bridge from today’s world into the past. Each participant is invited to bring a favorite adult. Cameras and American Girl dolls are welcome. Although there is no charge for the program, seating is limited. Interested elementary and middle school students are urged to make reservations online at the library's website .

Thirsty Thursday reconvenes this Thursday at 7pm with local photographer, book and greeting card designer Jane Beck Biggs who will share the story behind her creative efforts. In 2010, Biggs self-published Finding Nagishot,  an 80-page detailed account of her church mission trip to the war-torn village in Sudan. An open mike program will follow her special presentation. Poets and songwriters are invited to share their work at that time. The suggested theme for January is "New Year's Resolutions." Thirsty Thursday is held at New Life Lutheran Church, 120 Frog Pond Lane, off Highway 290 in Dripping Springs. Admission is free. Refreshments will be provided and donations to the Grace Food Pantry are encouraged. For more information, contact Thirsty Thursday host Nancy Fierstien at (512) 858-2024.

Additional performances are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, both at 7:30pm, plus matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 2pm.
