HAYS COUNTY ESD#6 SEEKS TO FILL VACANT BOARD POSITION

Hays County Emergency Services District #6 (ESD#6) Board and County Commissioner Karen Ford are seeking individuals who are willing and qualified to serve as an ESD Board member. ESD#6 oversees fire and rescue services in northwestern Hays County, including oversight of the District’s Fire Chief and contracts with three volunteer fire departments (Driftwood, Henly and North Hays). The ESD Board is a five-member body appointed by the Hays County Commissioners.

Those interested in becoming an ESD Board member must be at least 18 years of age, a resident of Texas, a qualified voter within the ESD service area, or owner of land subject to taxation in the ESD. It is also beneficial, but not required, that board members possess knowledge of fire prevention, fire rescue or emergency medical services, and/or management of public services. The Board meets monthly in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act. Each board member serves a two-year term, and currently there is one position open that begins in January 2011.
