DRIPPING MONDAY: THE WEEK AHEAD
On Thursday at the Dripping Springs Community Library at 6:30PM, local author Wendy Parnell will share her new children's book, Musta Notta Gotta Lotta Sleep Last Night, with children of all ages and accompanying adults. Pajamas and favorite teddy bears are optional but welcomed at the hour-long interactive story time. Milk and cookies will be served. Copies of the book, inspired by the music of Joe Ely, will be available for purchase and signing by the author after story time with book sales benefiting the Friends of the Dripping Springs Community Library. For more information about this or other public library events, visit the library's website at dscl.org or call (512) 858-7825. The library is located at 501 Sportsplex Drive.
On Saturday, cyclists will have an opportunity to enjoy a beautiful Hill Country ride with an even greater purpose as Camp Lucy, a wedding and event venue located on Creek Road, opens its gates for a “wish list” benefit for Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center (HCWC). Participating riders will enjoy a supported ride with snacks, maps, water stops, ride leaders, and more, all in exchange for a non-perishable food item or any of the following needs on the Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center wish list: socks for all ages and genders, baby wipes and diapers (sizes 3, 4, and 5), and towels. The Hays-Caldwell Women's Center provides a safe haven for families recovering from abusive relationships, and these donated items will go directly to women, children and men who had the courage to leave abusive homes. Pre-registration for the event is required. Cyclists can register at camplucy.com/ride or email ride organizer Paul Pinholster at paulpinholster@yahoo.com for more information on the ride, or if interested in assisting with the event. All levels of cycling proficiency are encouraged to attend. Camp Lucy gates open at 8:00AM. Rides start at 9:00AM.
Also on Saturday, from 10:00AM – 4:00PM, art and live music lovers are invited to Sol’stice Garden Expressions in Dripping Springs for the 5th Annual Pulling Together Art Benefit. While strolling the creative and whimsical grounds of Sol’stice, attendees will enjoy the inspired indoor and outdoor galleries of featured artists. Live music by McMillan & Sol’strings will provide a relaxing background along with free 10 minutes chair massages by Leslie Navarro. The event will feature a particularly artistic silent auction, the proceeds of which, along with a portion of event sales, will benefit PAWS Shelter and Humane Society. Along with one-of-a-kind pieces of art for sale, attendees can enjoy light hors d'oeuvres, wine, and beer. Sol’stice Garden Expressions is located at 900 Highway 290 West less than a mile west of RR 12 in Dripping Springs. For more information, contact Marilyn Flanegan at (512) 992-2828 or email msflanegan@gmail.com.
