DRIPPING MONDAY: THE WEEK AHEAD
Early voting starts next Monday, and there are just two more candidate forums happening this week to help you get the facts on the local candidates. On Tuesday, the 912 Project hosts its candidate forum for Hays County Commissioner, Precinct 4, with candidates Karen Ford and Ray Whisenant. The forum will take place at 7:00PM at Church of the Springs (230 Sports Park Road).
On Thursday, Belterra Candidates' Forum will take place starting at 6:00PM in front of the Belterra Welcome Center located at the corner of Belterra Drive and Trinity Hills Drive in Belterra. Covered seating for up to 300 residents will be provided. Free parking shuttles will run every few minutes from Rooster Springs Elementary located on Belterra Drive. If you can't make it to the forum, the event will be hosted by KXAN's Leslie Rhode and broadcast live on KDRP radio and video on kdrplive.org. Candidates attending as of this posting are Jason Isaac, Karen Ford, Ray Whisenant, Robert Updegrove, Judge Bill Henry, Scot Courtney, Bert Cobb, Anna Boling and Jeff Barton. All questions need to be sent in advance to askthecandidate@kdrplive.org. The event Moderator will pose questions submitted on behalf of the public.
The Dripping Springs Farmers Market will have a new neighbor on Saturday as the Dripping Springs United Methodist Church has set up its annual pumpkin patch. The Dripping Springs Farmers Market is from 9:00AM - Noon at The Triangle (Hwy 290 and RR 12).
Also on Saturday, from 11:00AM – 3:00PM at Dripping Springs Elementary School, the DSES PTA hosts its 14th annual Fall Fair. Activities include a rockwall, obstacle course, giant slide, confetti eggs, cake walk, barreltrain, spooky maze, and much more, as well as lots of food, fun, andfamily time. All are welcome.
Wrap up Saturday with traditional Texas comfort when the Dripping Springs Chapter of the Eastern Star serves up a Chili Dinner (chili, cornbread, and dessert) and Country Store with lots of homemade crafts 5:00PM - 7:30PM at Sunset Canyon Baptist Church (4000 Hwy 290 E). Tickets are $7 for adults and $3.50 for kids (12 and under). Takeouts are welcome.
On Sunday, Camp Lucy is hosting a training ride in advance of the LiveStrong Challenge in Dripping Springs. Ride the same routes used on the Challenge, starting and ending at Camp Lucy on Creek Road. Not riding in the Challenge? No problem, all riders are welcome for this fun Sunday morning ride. Camp Lucy gates open for check-in at 7:00am. All rides start at 8:00am. Support ends at noon.The event is just $7 with proceeds benefiting the Lance Armstrong Foundation and registration is required.
