DRIPPING MONDAY: THE WEEK AHEAD

The Friends Foundation's 7the Annual BBQ Fundraiser is Thursday  from 5:00PM - 10:00PM at the Salt Lick Pavilion featuring a Salt Lick barbecue buffet and desserts by the Bluebonnet Auxiliary, as well as a live and silent auction and raffle with three big prizes. Musical entertainment provided by legendary fiddler and Grammy winner Johnny Gimble and his band. Bama Brown of KASE 101 will MC. This annual fundraiser by the Friends Foundation helps provide services to the needy elderly in the greater Dripping Springs Area and helps to purchase meals for Our Daily Bread. Tickets are $20 per person (children 6 and under are free) and may be purchased at Hill Country Care or Print Plus in Dripping Springs. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Hemisphere (28000 RR 12) will play host to the DS Dance on Friday from 7:00PM – 10:00PM.  A dance with live music, no entrance fee, reasonable hours (for those who stay up for the late start time at Twin Sisters, you know what that means), and all right here in Dripping Springs! The DS All-Stars will be playing traditional country and swing dance tunes. Come to dance, come to listen to the great music. Hemisphere Cafe will be open with the full cafe menu including beer and wine selections.

A community open house will be held at the newly renovated Dripping Springs High School (940 Hwy 290 West) from 4:30PM - 6:00PM on Friday in conjunction with the Homecoming football game. The campus will be open for alumni and community members to tour. The open house will provide an opportunity for graduates returning for Homecoming festivities to see the new facility. This past summer, the locations for Dripping Springs High School and Dripping Springs Middle school were switched. The high school was expanded to nearly 400,000 square feet and has an enrollment of nearly 1,300 students.

As we type this, we're drinking coffee made from fire roasted coffee beans purchased at last Saturday's Dripping Springs Farmers Market. The cool weather has the market growing and grooving again. For the latest vendor news, be sure to sign up for Jo Ann Touchstone's updates here. The market is on Saturday from 9:00AM - Noon at the Triangle (290 and 12).

The Rainwater Revival  is Saturday 10:00AM – 5:00PM at Roger Hanks Park (on 290 about 1 mile west of the 290 and 12 intersection). This celebration of collection, conservation, and common sense brings together rainwater harvesting professionals and enthusiasts in a fun Texas Hill Country atmosphere this fall. The festive day will be filled with informative and entertaining presentations by professionals and users of rainwater, water conservation-related business vendor booths, rainwater system displays, and plenty of experts to provide guidance and services. Live music will keep the day rocking with The Derailers, Joe McDermott, and Bob Livingston's Cowboys & Indians. Rain barrels beautifully transformed by local artists will be auctioned off at the event. There will also be food, kids' crafts, shopping, and more. Admission is free. For more information, visit rainwaterrevival.com.

Sample sausages from over 15 markets, quaff beer from 2 local breweries, and dance the Polka with the Der Klein Steins band from New Braunfels on Saturday from 4:00PM - 9:00PM at the Best of the Wurst at St Martin De Porres’ Parish Hall (650 Post Oak Rd). And do it all while helping the Knights of Columbus raise money for their scholarship fund. Who knows, you may even get to do the Chicken Dance! Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for kids 6-12. Kids under 6 are free. Call Mark Handley at (512) 894-4470 with any questions.
