The local candidate forums hosted by the Dripping Springs 912 Project Group kick off on Thursday at 7:30PM at Church of the Springs (230 Sports Park Rd) with incumbent County Sheriff Tommy Ratliff and challenger Gary Cutler.
The Dripping Springs Farmers Market rocks on this Saturday from 9:00AM - Noon at The Triangle (RR 12 and 290). Hooray for rain that makes things grow! If you have not signed up for Jo Ann Touchstone's official market update for the latest vendor information before the market, you can do so here .
Driftwood will be Dripping With Taste on Saturday from Noon - 7:00PM at Creekside Pavilion for this food and wine festival benefiting the Dripping Springs Visitor Center.
We were Girl Scouts, and while our sash was thin on earned badges (other than the hospitality badge, thank you very much!), we did have a coveted TOFS (Troops on Foreign Soil) badge for our Girl Scout time in Holland. A Girl Scout Registration Rally is being held in Dripping Springs on Saturday from 1:00PM - 3:00PM at United Methodist Church of Dripping Springs. Girls from Kindergarten to 12th grade are invited to join and should bring a parent to the rally. Questions can be directed to Service Unit Directors: Bob Pursley (bobpursley@gmail.com) 858-1132or Bridget Elliott (betroop988@gmail.com) 858-1620.
On Sunday, The Heritage Circle will host A Magical History Tour, a narrated walking retrospective of Mercer Street that kicks off in Downtown Dripping Springs at 3:30PM at 103 Old Fitzhugh Road, known locally as the Old Masonic Lodge, and known much earlier (1881), as the Dripping Springs Academy. There, attendees will take a photographic peek of the city’s treasures from the collection of Travis Garnett. Participants will then be guided down Mercer Street with brief updates along the way, ending the event with a tour of the Homestead at the Dripping Springs, located at 500 Mercer, refreshments on that lawn, and a presentation by the Dripping Springs Historical Commission. Local historian Carl Waits will also be on hand for a book signing of his book The Complete History of Dripping Springs, Texas, and the P. A. Smith Survey. Tickets for A Magical History Tour are just $5 are available through Dr. Pound Pioneer Farmstead. Call (512) 858-2030 for more information.
