A MAGICAL HISTORY TOUR

Downtown Dripping Springs
The Heritage Circle will host a narrated walking retrospective of Mercer Street that kicks off at 103 Old Fitzhugh Road, known locally as the Old Masonic Lodge, and known much earlier (1881), as the Dripping Springs Academy. There, attendees will take a photographic peek of the city’s treasures from the collection of Travis Garnett. Participants will then be guided down Mercer Street with brief updates along the way, ending the event with a tour of the Homestead at the Dripping Springs, located at 500 Mercer, refreshments on that lawn, and a presentation by the Dripping Springs Historical Commission. Local historian Carl Waits will also be on hand for a book signing of his book The Complete History of Dripping Springs, Texas, and the P. A. Smith Survey. The Heritage Circle is an auxiliary of the Friends of the Pound House and tickets for A Magical History Tour on September 12, just $5, are available through Dr. Pound Pioneer Farmstead, call (512) 858-2030 for more information.

BRIDAL OPEN HOUSE

Dripping Springs is home to one of the most unique and beautiful wedding and event venues in the country. Camp Lucy has already been featured in USA Today. Dripping's own Whit Hanks brought two French Colonial-era chapels over from Vietnam and reconstructed them here. The stunning green roof on the venue's pavilion is 1920s Ludowici tile rescued from the Bexar County Courthouse remodel. If you're a bride-to-be or in need of an event venue, the Bridal Open House is an opportunity to tour the grounds while visiting with other vendors. 17TH ANNUAL BBQ FUNDRAISER

Salt Lick Barbecue buffet and desserts by the Bluebonnet Auxiliary. Musical entertainment provided by the legendary fiddler and Grammy winner Johnny Gimble and his band. A live and silent auction, and a raffle with three big prizes. Featuring Mr.Bama Brown of KASE 101 Radio as Master of Ceremonies. This annual fundraiser by the Friends Foundation helps provide services to the needy elderly in the greater Dripping Springs Area and helps to purchase meals for Our Daily Bread – a home hot meal delivery program for the homebound, provide medic alert devices for summoning help in an emergency, financial assistance in times of dire need, and also helps fund special events at Hill Country Care for the residents. Tickets are$20 per person (children 6 and under are free) and may be purchased at Hill Country Care or Print Plus in Dripping Springs. Tickets will also be available at the door. RAINWATER REVIVAL

This celebration of collection, conservation, and common sense brings together rainwater harvesting professionals and enthusiasts in a fun Texas Hill Country atmosphere this fall. The festive day will be filled with informative and entertaining presentations by professionals and users of rainwater, water conservation-related business vendor booths, rainwater system displays, and plenty of experts to provide guidance and services. Live music will keep the day rocking with The Derailers, Joe McDermott, and Bob Livingston's Cowboys & Indians. In the weeks leading up to the event, an art trail of beautifully transformed rain barrels will be hosted around the county. The barrels will be auctioned off at the event. 2ND ANNUAL WILD WEST FEST

A daylong celebration and family fun day, the Fest offers activities for all ages.The heritage of Dripping Springs promises to come to life with western activities and other entertainment scheduled for the Wild West Fest. Day-time activities include an equestrian playday, a ranch rodeo, barrel races, goat show, Imagine a Horse, arts and crafts vendors, a chili and salsa cook-off, pumpkin carving contest, an old fashion pie contest, kids heritage games and a haunted house. Later in the day and evening, the Wild West Fest will feature a full BBQ dinner and dancing to the tunes of the Michael Myers Band. Wild West Fest benefits Harrison Ranch Park.
