DRIPPING BEAUTY (BY WAY OF PAKISTAN)

Just 30 days ago,17 year old Afifa arrived in Austin from Pakistan, where she lived under Taliban oppression that forbids girls to attend school or practice the arts. Despite unfathomable obstacles, Afifa persevered to learn English and keep up her studies. In the short month since her arrival, Afifa's life has taken flight. The bright, gracious, and articulate teen has been awarded a scholarship at Khabele College Preparatory School in Austin where she will be starting classes.

To help celebrate this new life, her new friends at Pink West here in Dripping Springs are hosting a day of henna on Saturday, August 28, from 10:00AM to 4:30PM where Afifa will introduce this ancient, beautiful, cultural art to western (and country western) women. Dressed in the vibrant, embellished clothing of their native Pakistan, Afifa and her sister will be doing everything from the smallest designs to full hands, arms, and feet.
