PAWS DOG OF THE WEEK: CLYDE

We spent some time at the PAWS shelter last week, getting to know the dogs so we can provide better "Dog of the Week" information. Seeing all those sweet dogs so desperate for new homes, and hearing their stories, is always emotional to say the least. Clyde's story is a sad one right now, but hopefully someone soon can change that. After being dumped in the middle of the night at PAWS, the shelter staff began doing some sleuthing to find the owner (abandonment of an animal is a crime — for those who feel they can no longer care for their animals, there is an intake process at shelters). What they found was that a week prior, Clyde's original owner had posted him on Craigslist saying she could no longer keep him because she had to move for a job. The original owner was found and she said a family had responded to the ad and taken him. And they apparently kept him for a whole week before dumping him in the middle of the night. Left him tied up to a post.

Dogs are so forgiving and resilient it never ceases to amaze us. Having spent time with him we can attest he is a sweet, healthy 8 year old Lab mix who just wants occasional scratches and pats and would make an excellent companion.
