DRIP PIC OF THE WEEK

Texas Parks and Wildlife had a cute post on their Facebook page on Friday the 13th (to follow the Babble on Facebook, click here). They posted about dragonflies being considered a symbol of luck in some cultures. Intrigued, we looked a bit more and found that in ancient Japan, dragonflies were believed to be good luck and protection for warriors headed into battle — certainly something a paraskavedekatriaphobic (someone with a morbid fear of Friday the 13th) would appreciate. Don't know if it will bring us luck, but this photo of a purple dragonfly by Dripping Springs photographer Carla McCandless of Transcendent Photography did bring us a moment of delicate, lacy-winged beauty.
