HILL COUNTRY KITCHEN: NEW OWNERS, NOW SERVING DINNER, AND PROMISING NEW CHEF

Our friend "Trivia Tom" has been encouraging us to revisit Hill Country Kitchen (in the charming rock building across from The Triangle where the Dripping Springs Farmers Market is held). We stopped by this morning for a late breakfast and learned that the restaurant is now open for dinner, and with an impressive new chef at the helm. Before coming on board at Hill Country Kitchen, Brian Bennett was Executive Chef at Annie's Cafe and Bar in downtown Austin. Prior to that he worked in noted French Quarter restaurants in New Orleans and  spent two years feeding stars and crews on movie sets before family ties brought him back to Austin. We were particularly enthused to learn that Chef Bennett is of a "farm to table" mindset and will be using, as much as possible, fresh, local ingredients. His menu looks very promising and the restaurant should have its beer and wine license in the next couple of weeks, in the meantime it sounds like they are offering complimentary libations. The restaurant also now has a website at hillcountrykitchendstx, com where you can preview menus and learn more.
