Sweet Isabelle, left, is a purebred Smooth Haired Dachshund. This fawn-colored honey is 5 years old and was dumped at PAWS along with another little Dachshund, probably her son. The U.S. Humane Society estimates that a quarter of all dogs in shelters are purebred just like Isabelle. Two particular volunteer opportunities right now are working at the Thrift Store in Wimberley (your volunteer hours convert to dollars for PAWS), and the shelter could also sure use some volunteer handyman or handywoman work around the place.
