PUBLIC HEARING ON THURSDAY FOR RM 1826 AND NUTTY BROWN ROAD INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS
Hays County is planning intersection improvements at RM 1826 and Nutty Brown Road. Interested citizens are invited to attend a public meeting to review the proposed improvement plans on Thursday, July 8, from 6:00PM to 7:00PM at the Driftwood Fire Station on RM 1826.
“The planned improvement at this busy intersection involves a dedicated left turn lane from RM 1826 on to Nutty Brown Road,” said Hays County Pct. 4 Commissioner Karen Ford. “Recent average daily traffic counts at this intersection show more than 4,500 vehicles, so there’s definitely a need for a dedicated left turn lane and the resulting safety and mobility improvement.”
The proposed improvement at RM 1826 and Nutty Brown Road is a project funded by the November 2008 citizen-supported road bond, and is budgeted at $805,000 with construction being $583,000 of the total. Hays County is working with CH2M-Hill engineering firm on the design of this project. There is a cost saving agreement to have TxDOT bid the job and oversee the construction, expected to begin no later than Summer 2011 and completed no later than Summer 2012.
