DRIP PIC OF THE WEEK

We thought last week's Firewheels would conclude our run of wildflowers as Drip Pics of the Week, but Horsemint demanded one more hoorah. This year has witnessed a bumper crop of this striking purple annual herb in the mint family. There is a massive cluster of it on RR 12 on the way to Wimberley. Learn more about Horsemint on wildflower.org .

I have seen these and wondered what they were....thanks for the information.

Now, I have a question: Have you ever heard of a "tooth ache tree". I have several of these trees on my property west of Dripping Springs. My dad showed me this tree years ago and that was the only name he called it. If you chew the leaf it has a numbing effect on your tongue! He said the Indians used it. Truth or Fiction????
