DRIPPING SPRINGS FARMERS MARKET ON SATURDAY
Instead of staring at the clock tomorrow, just waiting for the 5 o'clock whistle to blow (could this weekend c'mon and get here!), plan your Memorial Day Weekend menu with this produce information for Saturday's Dripping Springs Farmers Market. The market is held from 9:00AM - Noon at The Triangle (RR12 and 290) and it has become such a fantastic community gathering. A coffee and pastry from the Thyme & Dough stand and a visit with all the vendors has become a Saturday morning ritual.
For this Saturday, we've received the following produce confirmations:
Mornin' Glory Farm will be offering fingerling potatoes, a few blackberries (they've decided to share their kitchen patch), greens and, just this once, freshly dug scorzonera roots (What the whoseawhatsit is scorzonera root? Learn more here). They will also have both lentil and sunflower sprouts, and a wide variety of fresh herbs to brighten Memorial Day weekend beverages and sauces.
Onion Creek Farm will inspire your Memorial Day weekend menu with certified organic arugula, beets, green beans, Swiss chard, collard greens, lamb's quarters, radishes (French breakfast, cherry belle, pink beauty), yellow and red bulb onions, French shallots, garlic chives, oregano, rosemary, Texas tarragon and epazote (Que es epazote? Click here). And...wait for it...red thumb fingerling potatoes. We love these potatoes. We boil 'em, smash 'em with oil oil and/or butter, salt and pepper 'em, and mix in caramelized French shallots. Ridiculous! Onion Creek Farm will also have farm fresh eggs.
If you ever feel overwhelmed at a farmers market, you're new to armers market shopping, or you're looking to become more of market shopping pro, one of our go-to food blogs, Serious Eats, offered their 10 Tips To Take To the Farmers' Market This Week.

Onion Creek Farm's freshly dug (really freshly) red fingerling potatoes.
