DRIPPING MONDAY: THE WEEK AHEAD

An Evening In the Vineyard to benefit The Burke Center for Youth is tonight at Mandola Estate Winery and Trattoria Lisina. The evening kicks off at 6:00PM. For more information call (512) 858-1506 or visit the burkecenter.org .

Award-winning educator and author, Dr. Antonio Carvajal, has graciously agreed to share his experiences Thursday evening from 5:30PM - 6:30PM at Dripping Springs Community Library located (501 Sportsplex Drive). Dr. Carvajal was the co-founder of Youth Opportunities Unlimited (Y.O.U), a residential program for at-risk youth. He received the Jaime Escalante "Stand and Deliver" Award for his contributions, and his book, Essential Moments, was inspired by Dr. Carvajal's nine years of teaching experience in the public school system and thirty-four years in higher education. The library's evening with Dr. Carvajal will include refreshments and a book signing.

Regular readers know we are PAWS supporters and we are particularly excited about their Dinner By the Bite event Thursday evening at 6:30PM at Wilson Appliance. Watch local chefs prepare their menu highlights and then eat the tasty results! Tickets are just $50 in advance and $60 at the door. In addition to the opportunity to be among the first tasters of Jester King brews (get the Jester King tasting menu here), Twin Liquors is providing some fantastic wine pairings for the menu which includes the following:

Also, beginning in June, Dripping Springs Babble and our newsletter update will finally begin taking on more advertising. Many have asked and we're finally ready to get rolling! To kick things off, we have donated 6 months worth of advertising to the Dinner By the Bite silent auction. To purchase tickets, contact Sandy Johnson at pawsevents@gmail.com or purchase now via PayPal.

On Friday evening, the Babble is hosting a Trivia Night at Hemisphere Marketplace & Cafe. We love trivia, and we're hoping a few of you do, as well! It will be our version of "pub trivia". Bring a team, find one when you arrive, or play solo (because you're smart like that). For those who haven't played trivia in a pub setting, you are provided a sheet of paper, your host (that's us) reads questions and, without any technological aid, your team must write down your agreed upon answer. There will be around 40-50 questions which will be graded. The winning team wins...well, we don't know what yet...but, for those who have played before, you know it's not just about winning, it's also about the team name that gets the biggest laugh. The trivia will cover the gamut of the usual trivia suspects — current events, history, geography, pop culture and, special only to Dripping, probably a question or two about our little slice of heaven. The doors open at 6:30PM and we plan to be reading the first question by 7:00PM. Print Plus has graciously supplied us with pencils!

The Annual Studio Tour & Hill Country Arts show is Saturday from 10:00AM - 6:00PM. The event is hosted each year by the Artists of Dripping Springs to raise money for their scholarship program and to allow artists from all over the Hill Country to show and sell their art work. There will be many different kinds of art work available including paintings, sculptures, jewelry, pottery, textile art, and much more. All ages are welcome. It is a self guided tour and numerous artists will be located at each stop with their art available for purchase and viewing, as well as at a central Art Market located at Roger Hanks Parkway. Download the studio tour map here .
