JESTER KING AT DINNER BY THE BITE ON MAY 13!
PAWS' Dinner By the Bite is coming up Thursday, May 13, and while we had a ball at last year's event, we must confess to even greater excitement this time. Starting at 6:30PM that evening at Wilson's Appliance, local chefs will demonstrate some of their most popular dishes while we watch, learn, and then get to eat the tasty results! They've got a fantastic round-up of cooking talent set for May 13 with The Leaning Pear, Linda's Fine Food Restaurant, Austin Cake Ball, Jack Allen's Kitchen, and Silver K Cafe/Chrome Cactus. And what to complement all that wonderful food?
The brews of Jester King Brewery .
As many of you know, Jester King is a new microbrewery going in on Fitzhugh. The brothers behind the operation have been extremely gracious since coming to town, and they are setting PAWS up with tastes of several of their brews. Dinner By the Bite attendees will be among the first to get a taste of what's in store when the brewery opens (they just poured the slab). Jester King provided PAWS with the following list of beer that they will have for tasting at the event. Tickets are $50 before the event, you can pay via check or Pay Pal on the PAWS site (scroll to the bottom of this page and follow directions) or $60 at the door.
JESTER KING BREWERY'S TASTING LIST FOR PAWS' DINNER BY THE BITE ON MAY 13
Das Wunderkind!
An American wheat ale that sets out to prove that American wheat ale doesn’t have to be a dull and boring style. This beer has over two pounds of hops per barrel with the majority of hops being added late in the boil and after fermentation is finished (dry hops). German red wheat and organic 2-row malt provide the backbone for this floral, citrusy, aromatic beer. 5.0% ABV
Barrel Aged Bitter
A traditionally brewed English pale ale with rich, toasty malts from the UK fermented in American oak barrels. The oak, malt and English yeast combine to create soft notes of fresh bread, biscuit, vanilla and subtle fruit. 3.5% ABV
India Pale Ale
This beer is one of the most aggressively hopped IPAs around. We add a ridiculous four pounds of hops per barrel to create cascading waves of hops flavor and aroma. Hops from the Pacific Northwest create flavors of mango, grapefruit and pine. 7.8% ABV
Hill Country Ale
Inspired by Belgian Biere de Table, this beer is a Belgian style farmhouse ale that’s barrel aged with wild yeast and dry hopped. The multiple yeast strains used to make this beer create earthy, spicy and rustic farmhouse flavors. It finishes dry and effervescent with some subtle floral notes from the dry hops. 3.2% ABV
La Danse Macabre Imperial Stout
Pitch black obsidian with a large tan head that falls glacially leaving remarkable lace. Its nose is a mixture of espresso and bitter chocolate. The silky body embraces flavors of crushed coffee beans, dark chocolate and roasted malt. The hop bitterness is significant, but yields to the hearty malt character. 12% ABV
