PAWS IT WHEN YOU CLEAN OUT YOUR CLOSET
As regular readers of the Babble know, we love dogs and do volunteer work with PAWS Shelter (from whence a couple of our darlings have come). But despite our ongoing work with PAWS, it was not until we resolved to do some serious spring cleaning this weekend that we remembered the PAWS donation drop box that sits in the parking lot of Triple S Feed here in Dripping at 6412 W. Hwy 290, (across from 290 Fence and near the light at Bell Springs Road). The donation drop box offers a quick, easy, and tax-deductible solution for the results of spring cleaning (and the piles of too-tight — or too-loose — jeans, outgrown toddler pajamas, or faded floral bedding) that also helps the shelter. The 24 hour drop box accepts non-breakable items that fit in a 39 gallon trash bag. The contents of the drop box are then sold in bulk to thrift stores with the proceeds benefiting the no-kill animal shelter. Just drop your bags filled with all types of clothing for men, women, and children including hats, belts, shoes, purses and small household items such as blankets, linens, towels, pots, pans, and toys in the donation box and then call (800) 627-6051 for a tax receipt. As an added benefit of the PAWS drop box, each of the thrift stores provides low cost, quality items, as well as jobs for both full and part-time employees. According to the EPA, in 2008 the U.S. generated 250,000,000 tons of garbage. Of that, 7.9%, or almost 2,000,000 tons, was rubber, leather, and textiles. The PAWS drop box offers an opportunity for Dripping spring cleaners to be a part of the solution, not the problem.
