WHATADRIP?

Word is that a Whataburger will be going in in front of the HEB. Much groundwork has been laid and looks like it's a sure thing, but we should have confirmation later this week.

Woohoo! All Drippin' needs now is a Chicken Express and we can have all of the basic Texas dining options covered! :)

I'm with you there, Greg ... I visited a Chicken Express in Taylor, TX several times. Their chicken is GREAT !

Popeyes "used to be" good, but they've really let it go downhill. Frankly I think the place is dangerous.

I know I am just a crabby ole' woman, but if I had wanted to live in Austin with its traffic and junky commercialism, I would have stayed in Austin. This is the guided development we are all supposed to be happy about?

Great, maybe now Dripping Springs, Texas can be the most obese city in the US. More fast food joints. How do we get some real food in this town?

i know it's good stuff, but these places are the equivalent of billboards to me. i wish we could keep it at bay. i'm all for growth and development, but a little less fast food and a little more local flavor would do our landscape well.

Sorry, Emily, but as an old lifetime resident of Hootersville (or Drippin' as the newcomers call us), we've tried the "local flavor" stuff for years and more years. They just don't stick around. I welcome the well-funded junk spots. ESPECIALLY this one - which I personally emailed several years back to come here.

Don't we have enough burger places already? If something has to go there, how about a Panera so we can eat salad or soup instead of more fried meat!

I agree with Mindy and Jeanne above - this is NOT what we moved to Dripping Springs for - keep the fast food and chains in Austin- we like our small town!

Julie .. Mindy .. Jeannie .. I like my small town Hootersville too. Always did. But I also LOVE WHATADOODLE ! And I'm sick of having to drive all the way into big city Liberalsville to get a good hamburger. Sonic was good -- until those ridiculous speed bumps came in. Never cared for Mickey D. And Dairy Doodle just caters to their own personal friends & the heck with everybody else. (Ever wait in their drive thru? You'd pass out from exhaustion before it got out to you). And Popeyes has decided they're in 'bidness' to kill people. I'm ready for a great burger joint !

to jame: with respect, you're wrong! it's been 25 years since i spent money at mcdonalds. i know people love this type of food (fast, high fat, and cheap) but some of us scrutinize what we put into our bodies! like the other post-er, panera is as "fast" as i'll go. local and independent would be even better.

(OWW ! I bit my tongue !) Anyway, that's why God made Austin ... so you'd have a cute little place to go and eat veggies and tofu.
But I just spoke to the Whatadoodle folks and they assure me that if you want a slice of tomato and some lettuce they'll fix you right up. Come on in when the place gets opened. Probably in about another 8 mos. to a year.
