THIRSTY THURSDAY FEATURES AWARD-WINNING SAN ANTONIO POET

San Antonio poet Beverly Monestier, who just won the 2009 Edwin M. Eakin Memorial Book Publication Award for her new collection, What The House Is Made Of, is the featured guest on Thursday, January 21, when New Life Lutheran Church reopens its“Thirsty Thursday” venue. The reading will begin at 7:00PM at 120 Frog Pond Lane. Monestier's work took numerous honors in the annual contests held by the Poetry Society of Texas this past year, and her new book should be out in print in March.

The “Thirsty Thursday” venue was launched in the Fall of 2007 as a place for area writers, musicians and storytellers to share their work. Participants meet on the third Thursday of every month (excluding December). Admission is free but food pantry donations are gratefully accepted. For more information, call (512) 858-2024 or contact Pastor Brad Highum at (512) 894-0155.
