CHRISTMAS IN THE HILLS TOUR OF HOMES ON DECEMEBER 12

Four unique Hill Country homes will be part of this year's “Christmas in the Hills” Tour of Homes set for December 12, from 10:00AM to 5:00PM in Dripping Springs. Sponsored by the Friends of the Dripping Springs Community Library, the self-guided tour takes visitors back to Christmas in the 1800s at the Dr. Pound Pioneer Farmstead, and allows access to the 14,500 square-foot Star Canyon Ranch home of Bill and Mary Mitchell. This majestic house stays cozy with a built-in geothermal energy source. Its total square footage consists of a guest house, office and main house built with harvested limestone, mesquite, cedar and pecan. A four-story stair tower rises to a glass observation area providing a panoramic view of their ranch. An extensive art collection and an 89,000-gallon rainwater collection systemwill round out the awe.

The Bartell home brings the outdoors in, as the limestone house wraps around a central, open-air courtyard, where visitors will find a fountain and native Christmas trees trimmed with wildlife treats.

The Pedersons might have folks singing “I'll Be Home for Christmas” when they see the festive place settings on their sumptuous dinner table.

And at the Baker home, every room is “decorated to the nines” with an incomparable assortment of hundreds of Santas and other Christmas collectibles. Pay attention, too, to all of the decorative tables, artwork, fountains, sculptures and chandeliers made by the homeowners here.

Admission is $15 and tickets are available at the library, at Print Plus on Highway 290 and at Hemisphere Marketplace on RR 12.
