DRIPPING MONDAY: THE WEEK AHEAD

The Dripping Springs Women's Club is back in action after a summer hiatus. The deadline to RSVP for Wednesday's luncheon at 11:30AM held at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit was last Friday, but you might check with womenofds@yahoo.com or Sharon Lesicko at (512) 301-3805 to see if there were any cancellations. This month's special guest is Steve Harper, author of The Ripple Effect, a book about maximizing the power of relationships for your life and business. Get caught up with everything that will be happening within the group and community in the coming months The cost of the lunch is $20.

Hays Trinity Groundwater Conservation District will hold its Board Meeting in Dripping Springs on Thursday at City Hall at 5:00PM. On the Board Meeting agenda,which is open to the public, are Non Exempt Well Owner Permit Hearings and Notice of Violation Reviews that will be considered for discussion and/or action. Thirsty Thursday turns 2 years old this month, and all are invited to celebrate another delightful evening of poetry, guitar music, stories and songs on Thursday at 7:00PM at New Life Lutheran Church (120 Frog Pond Lane, off Highway 290). Thursday's featured guest poet is Elizabeth Kropf from Cedar Park, Texas. Austin songwriter Steve Brooks, whose new CD Chasing Grace is due out on October 1, is also slated to appear. As always, admission is free and refreshments are part of the plan. The open mic segment is available to all who wish to share the spotlight. For more details call Nancy at (512) 858-2024.

The Dripping Springs Farmers Market happens on Saturday at The Triangle (RR12 and 290) from 9:00AM - 11:00AM. New vendors include Vibrant Naturals (soaps, lip balms, dog shampoo), local jewelry maker Shea Morgan (Morgan Jewelry), and Jupiter's Child (solar dyed table linens, messenger bags and handcrafted wooden animals). Also, market dates have now been extended through November to include November 7 and 21 in the hope of rain and plentiful fall crops. Note that DS United Methodist will have their annual pumpkin patch at the Triangle October 11- 31 which means they will share space with the Farmers Market on October 17 and which just sounds like dreamy fall fun.

Also on Saturday starting at 11:00AM, 14 high school band drumlines will participate in the first annual Dripping Springs Drumline Contest, sponsored by the DS Drumline and the DSHS Bands. A panel of three nationally acclaimed judges, featuring Scott Johnson from the The Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps, will adjudicate the event. General Admission is $5.00; ages 12 and under are free. On Sunday, the Straus Family Benefit happens at Nutty Brown Cafe from 5:00PM - 8:00PM. It is $10 at the door (kids enter free) for the charity event with all available tables first come, first served.
Live music and raffle items. Donations for the Straus family are joyfully accepted at Cattleman's Bank.
