DRIPPING FUN: FALL FEST (SEPTEMBER 26)

When this Babbler was a mere Babblette, Little House on the Prairie was a complete and utter obsession. Frontier forts were built from blankets in bedrooms, and attempts at churning butter were frequent (and very liquid). Had a Dr. Pound Pioneer Farmstead been anywhere in the vicinity at the time, that pioneer dream would have soared like an untied calico bonnet in a gust of prairie wind, particularly during the upcoming Fall Fest on September 26 which will feature pioneer games and crafts, the Pounds Grounds Café & Confectionery (serving homemade pound cake and coffee made from beans you grind in antique coffee grinders), wagon rides, live bluegrass music, and loads more (including a possible sorghum pressing if harvest goes well).

Is that Half-pint just behind the grove over yonder?

Dripping is so fortunate to have this well-preserved piece of Texas history and it's events like Fall Fest that keep it that way. If you're new to town or looking for a group to get involved with, there are no finer folks than those who sponsor and volunteer at the farmstead and it's not too late to get involved with Fall Fest now. Another Laura Ingalls Wilder child fanatic here - the books were practically memorized. I bugged my mother endlessly for full pioneer regalia until she relented and hired someone to make me a bonnet, calico dress, and long apron. I was in heaven. My pioneer outfit is long gone, but I'm thrilled to live in a place where something like Pound Farm and the Fall Fest exists so I can relive (in much greater accuracy than my native south Florida) that wonderful childhood pioneer fantasy.
