DRIPPING THURSDAY
History comes alive on Thursday with Mary Frances Chupick Bennett, the author of Invitation to Cat Spring.Watch and hear the author "literally" transform herself into Rozina, aCzech immigrant to Central Texas in the mid-1800s. Ms. Bennett's book is based on extensive research into the lives of her own Moravian ancestors, a trip to the Czech Republic and interviews with scores of Texans whose ancestors came from Moravia/Bohemia. She rolled stories, legends, papers, letters, and traditions of many families into the experiences of two such families and gave them Rozina's voice. Invitation to Cat Spring is a vivid, realistic picture of life under the Hapsburgs, the Atlantic crossing, and the hardships of life in Texas and the family-wrenching choices demanded by the Civil War. The audience can expect poignant, unforgettable storytelling event for the entire multi-generational family and for those who want to learn more about Texas history. Czech it out at 5:30PM at the Dripping Springs Community Library (501 Sportsplex).
