DRIPPING MONDAY: THE WEEK AHEAD
On Wednesday, Austin singer Jan Seides presents Songs My Bubbe Taught Me — the stories and songs she heard as a child from her Ukrainian grandmother or Bubbe. The award-winning songwriter with three solo CDs has performed all over the United States and Great Britain and now she's playing Drip at 2:00PM at the Dripping Springs Community Library (501 Sportsplex).
History comes alive on Thursday with Mary Frances Chupick Bennett, the author of Invitation to Cat Spring. Watch and hear the author "literally" transforms herself into Rozina, a Czech immigrant to Central Texas in the mid-1800s. Ms. Bennett's book is based on extensive research into the lives of her own Moravian ancestors, a trip to the Czech Republic and interviews with scores of Texans whose ancestors came from Moravia/Bohemia. Czech it out at 5:30PM at the Dripping Springs Community Library (501 Sportsplex).
Dripping Springs United Methodist Church hosts its annual CPR class on Saturday in the Family Life Center Gym from 9:00AM - 1:00PM. For just $25, get first aide and CPR certification plus automatic defibrillator training. Child care providers, Girl Scouts, healthcare workers, get your certification here. Learn the real deal of CPR from Austin firefighters who must use it almost every day, but have a great sense of humor to make this serious topic easy to learn. To register, call (512) 858-7541 ext 235 or, visit cpr-resources.com. Click on the Training Classes tab on the left-hand side. No need to pay in advance (pay on the day of the class).
