Kids Time Travel at Dr. Pound Pioneer Farmstead continues this Wednesday from 9:00AM - 11:00AM. Kids ages 5-12 can journey back in time this summer with hands-on activities dating to 1860. Every Wednesday in July features a new activity and an hour of pioneer games (washer toss, jump rope, sack races, and hoop rolling). Cost is just $5 per child and a responsible adult must stay. Reservations are required as class size is limited.Contact (512) 858-2251. This Wednesday the activity is butter churning and corn grinding.
At 2:00PM on Wednesday it's a "Whirled on a String" at the Dripping Springs Community Library as Yo-Yo World Champion Valerie Oliver brings 50 yo-yos with her to teach others how to perform tricks. Put a yo-yo in Oliver's hands and watch her transform it, then learn how to spin your own magic. The library is located at 501 Sportsplex. For more information call the library at (512) 858-7825.
On Thursday at 5:30PM, the library presents "Help! I'm a Teenager and I Need a Job" for teens looking to get the jump on fall part-time jobs and volunteer opportunities. High schoolers can get comfortable with the job-hunting process, and find out what area employers want and will need in the fall of 2009.
