DRIPPING BABIES

Greg Gowins of Driftwood opened his door to get the mail and discovered a newborn fawn on the front steps of his house. Sensing potential trouble, it did like its mama taught and dropped to the ground to hide. As Greg notes, that technique works in the grass, but not so much on concrete. Greg also reports that the fawn eventually scampered away with its mom. Melanie Cambron of Dripping Springs had a barn swallow family set up house on the back of her house. She and her husband could hear the cries for food and watched for weeks as the mom and dad patiently brought food, at which time 5 hungry mouths would appear. Late last week, they were sad to see the nest was empty, but looked skyward to see 7 barn swallows swooping overhead.
