DRIPPING SUMMER: FOR THE KIDS

Loads to do for the kiddoes this summer!

The Dripping Springs Community Library kicks off the good times this Wednesday, June 17, with an Origami Workshop. One thousand colorful paper cranes hang from the ceiling in the Nora Wouters Wing of the library, but why? Starting at at 2:00PM, teen presenter Ria Hodgson of Wimberley will share the story of Sadako and her paper cranes, and teach origami basics. Interested adults and elementary-aged boys and girls are especially invited. The program is free to everyone and supplies provided, but donations of origami paper are certainly welcomed. For more information on the workshop, contact Marie Kimborough, marie@dscl.org or (512) 858-7825.

Next week is bursting with activities at the library. On Tuesday, June 23, it's Toddler Time at 10:30AM with stories, music and movement just for the "lapsit" set and their accompanying adults. On Wednesday, June 24, at 2:00PM Marie Kimborough introduces a short puppet show presentation followed by a puppet making and puppet theater workshop for elementary-aged students. Storyteller Julie Zepeda welcomes the young and young at heart to Un Mundo de Libros y Cuentos, a story time in Spanish on Thursday, June 25, at 11:00AM.  Later that day, the Thursday chat at 5:30PM features the successful writer/family historian and storyteller Bev Scott of Georgetown. Your entire family will enjoy stories from her family's past (and maybe even be inspired to begin documenting your own). On Friday, June 26, at 12:30PM, it's Bonzo Crunch the Circus Clown and a performance by the celebrated Austin Dragon/Lion Dance Team on Saturday, June 27, at 2:00PM caps the week.

The Dripping Springs Community Library is located at 501 Sportsplex, just north of 290.  A complete calendar of summer events is available at the circulation desks. For more information about these programs and other summer activities, call (512) 858-7825 or visit the library's website at dscl.org.
