DRIPPING SUMMER: CHIGGERS AND FIRE ANTS

Mmmmm...Central Texas summer! Barbeques and fireflies. Cold lemonade and homegrown tomatoes. Chiggers and fire ants. (Insert sound of screeching brakes)

We've seen and heard quite a few folks lately bemoaning their chigger bites. In case you missed it a couple of weeks ago, click here to learn how we prevent (and treat) chigger bites.

Also, this Babbler made a wrong step earlier this week and has the fire ant bite-riddled foot to prove it, so we're revisiting earlier wise words on treating our property. Click here for the green, environmentally kind way to destroy Satan's tiny minions.

Don't feel bad Babbler. Not only did I step on an undetected fire ant mound a week ago -- with the scars of Satan's little minions still visible -- a few days later I got stung on the ear by a wasp. Felt like somebody gently removed my ear then slapped it on a sizzling pancake griddle. Oído en el fuego!!

Orange oil took out the fire ants, I'm still dealing with the wasps...
