DRIPPING TUESDAY: THE WEEK AHEAD

The deadline for applications from those interested in serving two year terms on the City’s Planning & Zoning Commission, Historic Preservation Commission, and Harrison Ranch Park Committee is today, Tuesday. Applicants may submit a letter of interest and resume to the City Secretary in person at 511 Mercer Street or by email to jtouchstone@cityofdrippingsprings.com. On Thursday, the Dripping Springs library hosts a free, informative chat on "Carbon Footprints In Your Yard" at 5:30PM.
Homeowners, did you know that your healthy lawn and well-maintained lawn equipment can do more than create an appealing outdoor space? According to the Department of Energy, grass plantings are “one of the most promising ways for reducing the buildup of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere”. Andy Fogarasi will show you how to save the planet and your hard-earned dollars. The presentation will include a how-to demonstration of basic lawnmower maintenance. For more information call (512) 858-7825.

Also on Thursday is the Dripping Springs Ducks Unlimited Banquet at Thurman's Mansion (Salt Lick). Doors open at 6:00PM. Dinner at 7:00PM. Auction at 8:00PM. Ticket includes four meat BBQ and drinks. Single is $50. Couple is $70. Corporate Table of 8 is $350. For more information, contact Chae Tracy at (512) 858-9355.

The Fire Fighter's Feast benefit for the Driftwood Volunteer Fire Department  happens from 11:00AM - 3:00PM on Saturday . These men and women were part of the crew that saved a Babble family member's home from a fast moving grass fire. They are on call and volunteer to protect our homes.
This benefit is a great and fun way to say thank you and help support our local volunteer fire fighters. Enjoy Salt BBQ (reason enough, there), live music, and much more from 11:00AM - 3:00PM. Location is the DVFD fire department (15850 FM 1826).

Fine Dine '09
also holds forth on Saturday from 6:00PM - 9:00PM at Creek Road Cafe. This benefit for the Montessori Country Day School of Dripping Springs promises an evening of culinary artistry with heavy hors d'oeuvres, representing a vast array of flavors from around the world. Featuring sounds from the Mediterranean, Texas Folk Music, and more. Tickets are $30 and include admission to the event, food, and music. Cash bar with fine wine, microbrew and imports. For more, please call (512) 858-7647 (Monday though Friday from 8:00AM - 3:00PM).
