FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY MEMBERSHIP DRIVE (WITH PERKS)
The Dripping Springs Community Library is holding a new membership drive for Friends of the Library from Thursday, May 14 through Wednesday, May 20. Representatives will be on hand at the library (501 Sportsplex Drive) during the following
times to encourage involvement in Friends' activities and to explain the new
“perks” being offered for various levels of membership:
Thursday, May 14, from 3:00PM -6:00PM
Friday, May 15, from 9:00AM - Noon
Monday, May 18, from 3:00PM — 5:00PM
Tuesday, May 19, from 10:00AM - Noon
Wednesday, May 20, from 3:00PM -6:00PM
Friends membership dollars benefit the entire community through the books, programs, and services they help to provide. As encouragement to join, the organization has come up with some pretty nifty incentives at the following levels (and, note that if you join at any level, you receive the goodies for that level, plus for the ones preceding).
Caldecott (contributing $20): 1 overdue book fine forgiveness coupon, 1 coupon for 2 free paperbacks, and 1 coupon good for half off on any one purchase made from the used books shelves at the library.
Newberry ($30): A newly designed Friends of the Library coffee mug.
Nobel ($50): A limited edition designer book bag created by library staffer (and very talented artist) Tatjana Versaggi with fabric donated by Le Ragge Rugs.
Lone Star ($75): A book plaque in your name will be placed in one of the new book titles purchased by the library.
Pulitzer ($100): A commemorative Christmas tree ornament designed by local glass artist Deniece Waite.
Carnegie ($200): Two tickets to the next “Christmas in the Hills” Tour of Homes.
For those unable to stop by during the membership drive itself, membership forms are always available at the library, or online at dscl.org.
Thanks to membership dues and the group's annual “Christmas in the Hills” Tour of Homes, the Friends were able to present a check for $6,715 to to the library at their annual meeting to help with expansion of the library's role as a cultural arts center in the community. Work on the 2009 Tour of Homes is already under way, making now a good time to find out how you can help the Friends make it one of the best tours yet.
