The General Ben McCulloch Chapter 2435 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) and the Magnolia Rangers 927 Children of the Confederacy (CofC) are hosting a Mother’s Day Tea on Saturday from Noon - 3:00PM at the Dr. Pound Pioneer Farmstead. The UDC holds their objectives are "Historical, Educational, Benevolent, Memorial and Patriotic". If you think you may be eligible for membership in the UDC or CofC, there will be information and applications available. All are welcome. Bring a favorite tea cup.
On Sunday, May 10, it's the Cooper's Quest Music Benefit at Nutty Brown Cafe. The music and fun starts at 2:00PM to benefit Cooper's Quest, a non-profit organization supporting children of Fire Fighters, Police and EMS that are fighting genetic diseases. This, their first fundraiser, is a music benefit featuring Texas musicians, a silent auction, raffle and more. Learn more about the fundraiser and the organization at coopersquest.org.
Also, this week, PEC is to begin mailing out ballots for the second–ever, open and competitive election in the history of Pedernales Electric Cooperative. The election is at–large, so every PEC member is entitled to vote for a candidate in each of the three districts. Watch your mailboxes and we'll have more on the election shortly.
