DRIPPING SPRINGS BABBLE: HAYS COUNTY PRECINCT 4 OPEN HOUSE: WRAP-UP
HAYS COUNTY PRECINCT 4 OPEN HOUSE: WRAP-UP
It was a packed house last night at the beautiful, and beautifully environmentally-friendly, new Hays County Precinct 4 offices. An incredible amount of thought and care was put into the building and its design, and it shows; this is not your typical fluorescent grey government office, rather, it seems to really represent the freshest and the brightest of Dripping Springs. The building attributes are almost too numerous to list, but we were impressed by the rainwater collection system and the use of native plants for landscaping to reduce water requirements. Building materials included regionally sourced materials, such as local stone on the building veneer. A porous concrete is used for the sidewalk, effectively reducing impervious cover and the entire area is dark sky compliant. And beyond such admirable positives as the indoor environmental quality and energy efficiency of the building, is the display of art on the walls by local artists. Very cool.
The county appears determined to use the facility for the benefit of our community, and we look forward to the potential and possibilities for our slice of Hays County.
