DRIPPING BIRDS: AVIAN CONTRASTS AND PAINTED BUNTING

We are dripping birds! Howard Williams sent in photos of a hummingbird and turkey, taken about a week ago here in Dripping. And Babble reader Judie on McGregor Lane sent in the photo on the right of a painted bunting that visited her feeder all day yesterday.

Thanks for sharing such great pictures!

Another reminder that I am the only person in all of Dripping who has never seen a painted bunting.

This can be remedied. Provide white proso millet seeds in a feeder mixed with other seeds (or millet by itself in a separate feeder). By the way, male Painted Buntings are shy -- which is odd considering the 'psychedelic suit' they don each day. You'd think they would flaunt it -- but no, bashfulness rules...

Howard, I should have known you'd have the solution. Thanks.
