HAYS COUNTY BURN BAN TEMPORARILY LIFTED

Hays County officials have temporarily lifted the County’s ban on outdoor burning because of recent rains. The burn ban is expected to be reinstated as early as Monday, April 20, since rain will probably end over the weekend and drought conditions will continue in the County.

    I always have mixed feeling about this. One of my neighbors always 'burns' a pile of wet debris every time the ban is lifted. Of course, it smokes way more than it burns and, invariably, the wind blows the smoke in my direction. I know that outdoor burning is a rural tradition (it was when I was a kid), I just wish people would be more judicious and considerate.
