DRIPPING EASTER: COMMUNITY HUNT AND SUNRISE SERVICES
Dripping Springs residents are invited for the Community Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday, April 11, at Noon. This annual event (formerly held in Founders Park) is sponsored by Drippin’ MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers), Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, New Life Lutheran Church, and DS Presbyterian Church. The hunt, for children through age 12, will start at Noon at the campus of the Episcopal church (301 Hays Country Acres Road) and will be followed by a free lunch of hamburgers and hot dogs for all. The hunt will happen rain or shine!
There are church services two times in the year that just feel particularly special, regardless of denomination - Christmas Eve Midnight Mass and Easter Sunrise Service (or Easter Vigil). Staying up later or getting up earlier than usual helps make a point of the day (even through stifled yawns). We know all Dripping churches will have special Easter celebrations, but we wanted to make note of those holding Easter Sunday Sunrise Services, in addition to their other Easter services. Here are three in Dripping and Driftwood (that we have been made aware of):
Dripping Springs United Methodist Church’s Sunrise Service is 7:07AM – 7:45AM. It is a "come and go" Communion Service with prayer. The church is located at 28900 Ranch Road 12.
The Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit has a sunrise Easter Vigil at 6:00AM, followed by breakfast and redressing the church. The church is located at 301 Hays Country Acres Road.
Driftwood United Methodist Church and Baptist Church of Driftwood will hold their annual joint "Son" Rise Service at 7:00AM at the Baptist church this year. Church is located at 13540 W RR 150. (Side note: When Babble founders were wee Babblers, the Methodist church and the Baptist church in Driftwood shared the same church building, they would just alternate Sundays. It was the church our grandparents attended and place of the twice monthly miracle of our staunch Southern Baptist grandfather amen-ing a Methodist!).
