ONION CREEK FARM STAND ON FRIDAY

Thanks to the rain and Marianne's green thumb, we are blessed with another Onion Creek Farm Stand on Friday. The stand, located at 1611 Creek Road, is open from 3:00PM - 6:00PM (and there should even be a little water running in the creek this week on your drive in — hooray rain!)

Per Marianne, here is what will be picked and ready for purchase (and all certified organic):

Swiss Chard with gorgeous, big leaves (thank you, rain).
Succulent Spinach, rinsed and bagged and as pretty as it gets (thank you, no hail).
Red Beets with lush tops (beets larger now).
Green Leaf and Romaine Lettuce.
Red Russian Kale.
Turnip Greens.
Loose Baby Carrots.
French Shallots (pulled young as green onions).
Mint (nice complement to beets and beet greens).
Garlic Chives (chopped as nice flavor addition to salads, soups, eggs, rice, etc.).
Oregano
Rosemary

She will also have Farm Fresh Eggs, Red Barn Beef (ground hamburger and ground round), and recipes available for those a little unsure of preparation of fresh garden greens (picked fresh, they are outstanding in flavor and vitamin content). Some garlic chives and aloe vera will also be potted up and ready for your gardens.

Marianne invites us all to come see how nicely the potatoes are coming along. And (this is so cool), she reports 42 rows of sweet sorghum are up. She hopes to grow and produce sorghum syrup again here, just like they did in the old days.
