DRIPPING MONDAY: NOTES ON THE WEEK AHEAD

The deadline for write-in candidates for City Council is today, Monday, March 16. If none are received, then an Order cancelling the election will be placed on the next regular Council meeting (April 14).

April is National Poetry Month, but Dripping gets a poetic preview this week as Dave Parsons, a finalist for the 2009/2010 State Poet Laureate awards, as named by the Texas Commission on the Arts, will appear at Thirsty Thursday. Parsons presentation begins 7:00PM at New Life Lutheran Church, 120 Frog Pond Lane (3 miles east of RR12 on Highway 290). Admission to the Thirsty Thursday reading is free, but food pantry donations are encouraged. For more information, call (512) 858-2024.

A couple of deadlines for the Founders Day Festival are on Friday, the Parade Entry Form must be returned by mail or delivered to City Hall and the business, arts and crafts vendor booth rental fees are due (a late fee is assessed after that day). Get the details and downloads at foundersdayfestival.com.

On Saturday, Crossroads Hair Design (27951 RR12) is holding a Hair Cut-a-Thon from 9:00AM - 5:00PM. The hair cutting fundraiser is first come, first served for shampoo and cuts. They're cutting for donations only, with all proceeds during the cut-a-thon going to the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.
