DRIPPING SPRINGS CITY COUNCIL NOTES
Yesterday we noted a few interesting items on the City Council's agenda last night including the consideration and possible action regarding the unlawfully placed Walgreens monument sign at the corner of Ranch Road 12 and Highway 290.
The Walgreens sign was unlawfully placed 6.15 feet into dedicated right of way by the contractor. The Council voted last night to send a violation notice requiring the sign be removed and a new sign permit application be submitted. This, essentially, restarts the sign process for Walgreens and if any variances are required*, it will go the Planning and Zoning Commission and then Council.
Also, following-up on City Council elections (or not) there is now a March 16 deadline for write-in candidates. If there are none, then an Order cancelling the election will be placed on the next regular Council meeting (April 14).
*Sign permits with no variances are administratively approved.

There are many of us in DS that would be very happy if that gross signboard (and all similar signboards) is replaced with a classier attention-grabber. Not that I prefer attention-grabbers on our busy highway, but those moving red lights are very unnecessary.
