DRIPPING TRASH: NOTES ON THE RECON DEAL
If you live in the city limits of Dripping Springs and are currently using a trash collection service other than Recon, here's the deal: you must now use Recon, per the City of Dripping Springs. During the last week of March, Recon will begin dropping off their trash cans and other services (such as IESI) will begin picking up their cans. The Recon-only era begins April 1. We just spoke with Recon and they did ask what size can we wanted (they have 2 different sizes), plus whether we wanted to do recycling. Not sure how they would have known what size can if we hadn't called, so even though it's being presented as you don't really have to do anything, you might want to call (512-894-4441) if this applies to you as well. They also said we did not need to call our current provider, that it would all be handled and if we had already paid for the quarter, the pro-rated amount would be refunded (but we'll probably still be calling anyway, just to be sure).
UPDATE (March 5, 2009): We have been in contact with the City and will be posting updated information about the Recon switchover shortly. Letters regarding the switch are said to have gone out yesterday, so once we receive we'll post new info.
*** And speaking of living in the city limits of Dripping Springs, the city council ballot applications are due Monday, March 9. Click here for details. ***

Since when is it up to the City of DS to dictate who we can use for trash pick-up?
