DRIPPING EVENTS: THE WEEK AHEAD

March kicks off with a week packed with events and items for your calendar.

For you Misty May and Karch Kiraly types, Sand Volleyball League Night starts Wednesday at Stadium Restaurant. Get the details
here.

Earlier on Wednesday (Noon - 1:30PM), the RISE forum "Re-Energize Your Business!" will be held at West Hill Center. Join the conversation with other entrepreneurs. The event is free and open to the public, but you must register to attend. For location and registration details, visit riseaustin.org or contact Catherine Werth via catherine@westhillcenter.com  or call (512) 963-8398.

On Thursday, on the heels of last week's wildly popular bird discussion, our smart and enthusiastic library is presenting another Chat in the Stacks. This week Bill Goodwin, the personable "Vice-Mayor of Tank Town" will talk about rainwater collection. As more of our wells go dry, this is a subject we should all care about. Even if you're on "city water", we can all play a part in helping conserve Dripping's water supply, plus plants love rainwater. From a strategically placed trashcan to a well-developed gutter system and massive collection tank, we can all help make Dripping Springs the Rainwater Capital of the World! Starts at 5:30PM.

Also on Thursday, Hays County invites the public to a meeting on groundwater availability's impact on the lot size of future developments. The discussion will be held from 7:00PM - 9:00PM at the DSISD Administration Building Board Room (510 Mercer) .

On Friday at the Terrace Club, friends of Ingrid Shacklett have organized a fun evening of BBQ, casino night fun (including Texas hold 'em tournament), and live music to help raise money for medical bills incurred by Ingrid during a long series of serious medical problems. Get all the evening's details including time, tickets, and Ingrid's story at
ingridshacklett.org.

Deadline alert on Friday! The next Dripping Springs Women's Club event is March 11, but the deadline to register is Friday. And the club's last event was sold out! At the upcoming event at Memory Lane Event Center, enjoy a style show featuring spring fashions from Talbot’s of Hill Country Galleria with makeup and hair by Dripping's own Sophie’s Garden. Lunch is $20 per person payable at the door, but reservations must be made by March 6 to womenofds@yahoo.com or call Sharon Lesicko at (512) 301-3805. Learn more about the club at their new website, dswomensclub.com.

Finally, on Saturday, is the Sculpture Challenge! Even if your sculpting skills are limited to artfully stacking dishes in the sink, Sculpture Challenge day holds something for everyone. Admire the artistic skills of talented sculptors (and help vote on the winner), enjoy all types of art, meet the artists, and listen to live music flow through the Carved Stone garden. Plus, food will be available from Nong! (Thai food) and The Big Drip. Admission is $10 per person. All ticket proceeds benefit PAWS Animal and Humane Shelter. Also, if you purchase one of the sculptures entered into the Sculpture Challenge, 20% will go to PAWS. Learn more at sculpturechallenge.com.
