DRIPPING FOOD: MAIN STREET MARKET & DELI

Recently, thanks to Main Street Market & Deli, we were rescued from two potential kitchen fiascos. First, after making purchases and preparations for a middle eastern-style dinner of falafel with homemade pita and hummus, we discovered that we had no tahini (sesame seed paste), an absolutely essential ingredient. Would we be able to find tahini in Dripping Springs at 5:00PM on a Sunday night with dinner company on their way at 6:00PM? Yes! Thank you, Main Street.

Next, this past Sunday was a Babbler sister's birthday. Her traditional birthday cake is Red Velvet Cake (the kind with loads of red food coloring — all that unnatural color gives it such a special zing!). In the wake of an apparent Valentine's day massacre of Dripping's red food color supplies, we began to fear it would be a Green or Yellow Velvet Cake birthday (and a very disappointed birthday girl), but Main Street saved the day (and a beloved annual tradition) once again.

We've also grown to rely on their deli for fresh-sliced meats and cheeses, their par-baked baguette has become a cupboard staple, and their daily kettles of soup for quick pick-up have spared us another cold dinner on many cold nights. They also typically carry our favorite non-potato chip addiction, Garden of Eatin's Red Hot Blues.

We do always try and say "thank you for being here" while we're in the store, but, for the record, we just wanted to say it again.
