DRIPPING RESIDENT HOWARD WILLIAMS PRESENTED GOLDEN EAGLE AWARD
Howard Williams of Dripping Springs was awarded the Golden Eagle Award for 2008 by the Wimberley Birding Society at their February meeting. The annual award is given to the person in Hays County who did the most for birds and birding. As regular Babble readers may recall, Howard's Dripping home became temporary residence for a rare Costa's hummingbird last winter. The bird's presence, and Howard's photos, drew statewide media attention and a revolving door of visitors to his property to see the elusive hummer. A real friend to the Dripping community, Howard recently installed a nest box in the Dripping library's courtyard, and donated one of his unique, inspiring, organic bird baths made from reclaimed and recycled materials (check them out on his site learnedbird.com). On February 26, along with Marilyn Kircus, Howard will be presenting a lively talk on birds at the library (get more details under "Events" on DrippingThings.com).
