FIRE ON PLUM CREEK LANE
Local photographer Tom Zinn sent in these photos of the fire last night on Plum Creek Lane (about 6 miles west of RR 12 on 290). We don't know the official cause of the fire, but there have been workers on the property cutting brush and moving rocks for the last few weeks. They had a burn pile going about a week ago, and high winds can certainly blow up embers and start a fire again (which is what happened to property next to Babble parents). Not surprisingly, with our seriously dry conditions, the fire spread fast. Thankfully, no structures went up in flames but, as Tom notes, it is a good reminder to keep our eyes open and to hold off on any burning until the burn ban is lifted. To always know where we officially stand on the burn ban, visit the Hays County Fire Marshal's page here.
Thanks for the photos, Tom!
