DRIPPING EVENT: KIM SMITH RECOVERY BENEFIT
On December 31, 2008, local resident Kim Smith was in a serious ATV accident during which she sustained massive injuries to her face and eyes. She was life-flighted to Brackenridge Trauma Center and remained hospitalized in ICU for almost a month. She was finally released this past Saturday (January 31), following face reconstructive surgeries and critical medical treatment. Because Kim faces additional surgeries and a long road of recovery and medical bills ahead, a benefit has been organized to help defray the crushing medical costs.
Kim's friends and family invite everyone for great BBQ and live music by Michael Myers at Nutty Brown Cafe on February 28, from Noon - 5:00PM. Tickets can be purchased at Cedar Valley Grocery (where Kim was the manager), Franklin Bank, Malone Diesel, Nutty Brown Cafe, and Print Plus. Tickets are $25 for adults, $10 for ages 4-12 and free for children 3 and under. 100% of proceeds go to the Kim Smith Recovery Fund.
Also, anyone wishing to donate an item for the benefit's raffle and silent auction, should contact Ami Fasel at (512) 626-2386 or email at amifasel@yahoo.com.
